What a beautiful time of the year, the leaves turning, and a crispness in the air. A perfect setting for an intimate gathering, with the ever wonderful cheese fondue as the centerpiece! Enjoy this easy and delightful menu, as you gather together for conversation, a little music, and a fall themed fondue!

Each guest will feel special with these beautiful little hand written place markers, set with a ribbon tied skewer.

With a beautiful piece of marble as your serving station, you can place any assortment of fruit, bread, meat, or what ever you like directly on the marble. It keeps it chilled and looks spectacular.

~An Elegant Fondue Party for Six~
“Autumn Evening in Vermont”

Party Menu:

Honey Cider, Vermont Cheddar Cheese Fondue:

1 cup Honey Crisp Cider, or other pressed apple Cider
2 tsp honey

1/2 pound Vermont white cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 pound Jarlsburg cheese, grated
2 tbsp cornstarch

Heat cider over medium high heat in a fondue pot to a boil.
Add honey.
Toss together cheese and cornstarch.
Decrease the heat to low and add cheese mixture, about 1/2 cup at a time, stirring until melted after each addition. Serve immediately.

Makes about 3 cups

Small apples, Honey Crisp, Gala, Granny Smith, or other firm apples, sliced
Small pears, Red, Anjou, and Bartlett, sliced
Seedless, Black, Red, and Green Grapes

Meat:
Honey Maple Ham, in pieces
Chicken Apple sausages, warmed and sliced

Assorted Artisan Breads:
Sweet Potato and Pecan, Rosemary Olive Oil, cut into pieces and lightly toasted. Tear away french baguettes.

Drinks:
Sparkling Spiced Cider, R.W. Knudsen

Recipes:

Sweet Apple Spice Creme:

1 container whipped cream cheese
1 cup marshmallow creme
6 tbsp vanilla yogurt
1/4 tsp apple pie spice

With an electric mixer, beat together cream cheese until smooth. Add the yogurt and the spice and beat until smooth.

Caramel Sauce:

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup butter

In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add brown sugar and cook over medium until sugar is dissolved and starts to bubble. Remove from the heat and whisk in sour cream until smooth.

Makes 2 1/2 cups

Holiday Dessert Cheese Balls with Assorted Shortbread Cookies and Sugared Pastry Twists


Cheese balls are a great holiday tradition. So I thought it might be fun to take some of our favorite holiday flavors and make them into dessert cheese balls. Make one or make all three, serve it with my pastry twists, and your treat will be the hit of the party! Happy Holidays!

Holiday Dessert Cheese Balls with Assorted Shortbread Cookies and Sugared Pastry Twists

Holiday Dessert Cheese Balls with Assorted Shortbread Cookies and Sugared Pastry Twists

White Peppermint Candy Dessert Cheese Ball

1 8oz container whipped cream cheese
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/4 tsp peppermint extract

6-7 chocolate wafer cookies, crushed
1 tbsp butter melted

2 tbsp crushed peppermint candies

In a small bowl or ramekin lightly spray with cooking spray. Press into the ramekin plastic wrap, making as smooth as possible, leaving overhang of plastic wrap.

In a small together mix together cookie crumbs and butter together until well blended. Set aside

In a medium sized mixing bowl, mix together cream cheese with powdered sugar, add extract and beat on high. Pour into prepared container, top with cookie mixture, pressing lightly. Cover with plastic overage and refrigerate for 4 hours, or overnight.
To serve, unwrap plastic. Pull up gently on plastic to release. Invert on to serving plate. Gently remove plastic and smooth surface with a lightly damp knife if necessary. Top with crushed candy cane and serve with assorted shortbread cookies, chocolate wafer cookies and pastry twists.

Serves 12

Egg Nog Dessert Cheese Ball

1 8oz container whipped cream cheese
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp rum extract
Pinch of nutmeg

6-7 shortbread cookies, crushed
1 tbsp butter melted

In a small bowl or ramekin lightly spray with cooking spray. Press into the ramekin plastic wrap, making as smooth as possible, leaving overhang of plastic wrap.

In a small together mix together cookie crumbs and butter together until well blended. Set aside

In a medium sized mixing bowl, mix together cream cheese with powdered sugar, add extract and beat on high. Pour into prepared container, top with cookie mixture. Cover with plastic overage and refrigerate for 4 hours, or overnight.
To serve, unwrap plastic. Pull up gently on plastic to release. Invert on to serving plate. Gently remove plastic and smooth surface with a lightly damp knife if necessary. Serve with assorted shortbread cookies, and pastry twists.
Garnish with frosted cranberries and mint if desired.

3 tbsp cookie butter, biscoff cookie spread, smooth or crunchy

6-7 speculous cookies or ginger snaps, crushed
1 tbsp butter melted

In a small bowl or ramekin lightly spray with cooking spray. Press into the ramekin plastic wrap, making as smooth as possible, leaving overhang of plastic wrap.

In a small together mix together cookie crumbs and butter together until well blended. Set aside

In a medium sized mixing bowl, mix together cream cheese with powdered sugar, add cookie butter, and beat on high. Pour into prepared container, top with cookie mixture. Cover with plastic overage and refrigerate for 4 hours, or overnight.
To serve, unwrap plastic. Pull up gently on plastic to release. Invert on to serving plate. Gently remove plastic and smooth surface with a lightly damp knife if necessary. Garnish with frosted cranberries and mint if desired. Serve with assorted shortbread cookies, and pastry twists.

Serves 12

Sugared Pastry Twists

1 sheet puff pastry , thawed
2 tbsp butter, melted
2 tbsp sugar

1 egg
1 tbsp water
Crystal sugar for topping

Heat oven to 400 degrees

In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water. Set aside

On a lightly floured board, smooth pastry to a rectangle, with a rolling pin. Evenly spread butter over the top, sprinkle with sugar. Cut in half, place one half over the top of the other, butter sides together. Cut into 1/2 inch strips. Twist and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with crystal sugar.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes 2 dozen
