Snowy Topped Golden Gingerbread Mini Doughnuts
1 1/3 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup sour cream
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 egg lightly beaten
3 tbsp. molasses
4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
White decorator sugar (optional)
To make doughnuts:
Heat machine according to manufacturer’s instruction.
In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients.
In a small bowl, whisk together milk, sour cream, melted butter, egg, and molasses.
Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
Bake according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Remove to a rack to cool. Frost with vanilla frosting and sprinkle with decorator sugar.
To make frosting:
With an electric mixer, beat butter until smooth. Add 2 cups powdered sugar, and milk. When smooth, mix in vanilla. Add remaining sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
